Are New Jersey’s Pension Problems Beyond Repair?

You are cordially invited to join us on Wednesday, October 21st for a conversation with the Chairman of the New Jersey Investment CouncilTom Byrne.  The Council oversees almost $80 billion in NJ State pension assets.

Those of you who are regular Princeton attendees may have a sense of déjà vu.  As you may note, we have invited Mr. Bryne to repeat his recent talk in Princeton at the Beacon Hill Club in Summit New Jersey. Why?

1) Our regular North Jersey attendees have suggested that an occasional visit north would be welcome and permit some of their neighbors to learn about the Princeton Roundtable.

2) This particular topic should be of interest to anyone who cares about New Jersey’s fiscal health and Mr. Bryne is particularly well placed to speak to its realities.

3)  It is the Princeton Roundtable’s mission to bring together high-level professional investors to examine just these sorts of complex and serious topics.

Currently the founding principal of Bryne Asset Management, Mr. Byrne’s began his career as a securities and commodities lawyer at Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft, and went on to advising large institutional accounts at Shearson Lehman, Inc., to quantitative modeling at Commodities Corporation, before founding Byrne Asset Management in 1998. Mr. Byrne is a Princeton University and Fordham Law School graduate. He served on the staff of the Brady Commission that reported causes of the 1987 stock crash to President Reagan and served as the past chairman of the Democratic State Committee of New Jersey. He is currently serving as trustee and treasurer of The Fund for New Jersey, and was appointed by Governor Christie to be chair of the New Jersey State Investment Council.  His varied experiences working in political, governmental, and private sectors have given Mr. Byrne unique insights to share with the Roundtable about the current state of the New Jersey pension, its funding, and possible solutions to avoiding negative outcomes from the impending New Jersey Pension crisis.

We hope you are able to join us for what should be an exceptional evening!

Cordially,
Dean R. Edelman
President
Princeton Roundtable

P.S.  We are pleased to announce that the President of James Simon’s family office, Ashvin Chhabra, will speak at our next Princeton symposia.  Details will be forthcoming to all invitees.

This truly exceptional evening, we hope you are able to join us.
